Youth With A Mission - YWAM - Targu Mures Romania - School of Worship

School of Worship

The School of Worship is designed as 2 phases. The first of these two is the lecture phase. With a focus on arts and music, we will have teachers of multiple nationalities and backgrounds who have experience in the areas that they will be teaching. The topics that will be taught include Biblical Foundations of Worship, Heart of a Worshiper, Artistic Forms of Worship, Musical Understanding and Skills and many more!

“The School or Worship was a great time for me to come and go deeper in my relationship with God and learn more about worship. Worship is not only in the sense of a corporate music setting, but worship is expressed in our own lives on a day to day basis - from learning about the music that we play to the position of our hearts as we serve. It was great to have this time growing in worship and what exactly a worship leader looks like.” - Andrew Martin, SOW 2010

During the lecture phase, the students will also be presented with the opportunity to develop their individual gifts, whether it is music, sculptures, dance or other forms of art. Bringing this gift before God to honor Him is one of the purest forms of worship. By developing our gifts and using them to honor God we can grow closer to His heart through the different talents that He has placed in us.

“The School of Worship really made me more confident in myself. Before I didn't think that I could play guitar good enough or I was nervous, but now I'm playing electric guitar every week at a prayer house and sometimes at my church and I'm really enjoying it. I also learned about how the kingdom of God isn't just heaven, but it's also here on earth and God wants to restore His kingdom for his glory. It's our job as worshippers/believers to bring that glory back to Him in worship and all we do which should be done as an act of worship. Knowing that has helped me with my Christian walk as a worshipper.” - Randy Shirk, SOW 2010

The lecture phase also includes:

Small Group Discussions: this is a time where the students will be able to process the week’s teaching in a group setting.

One-on-Ones: every student will be assigned a staff who will be available to the student for prayer and processing.

Work Duties: every afternoon, each student is given one of the various work duties around the base. This gives the student an opportunity to serve while helping maintain the facilities of the YWAM base.

Weekly Outreaches: As YWAM, we feel it is imperative to not only equip, but give to the community. This is why every week there will be different outreaches to our local community which may include evangelism, orphan and mercy ministries.

Practical Instruction: the students will be given the opportunity to receive instruction in their art. Whether it is music or another art form, our goal is to help cultivate what God has given each person. Lessons only as available.

Cell Bands: the musicians will be placed into one or more cell bands that will have weekly rehearsals and opportunities to lead worship in the community.

Outreach

Following the lecture phase, we will provide the opportunity to practically use the principles that were learned during the lecture phase in a cross-cultural environment. The locations and specific characteristics of the outreach will be established during the process of the lecture phase. The outreach will be designed around the individual giftings of the students. The outreach possibilities include Cape Verde, Mauritius, Uruguay, Reunion Islands, the Philippines and various locations throughout Europe.
